Canongate Wall

The Canongate wall is part of the Scottish Parliament building and lies under the facade of the Canongate building. [1] It was designed by Sora Smithson.

Construction

The wall is constructed from a selection of well known Scottish stones [2] including Clashach, Knowehead and Giffnock and features a mural carved by Gillian Forbes and Martin Reilly based upon a sketch by Enric Miralles of Edinburgh's Old Town.

Quotations

The wall also features quotations from a number of famous Scots including Alasdair Gray, Robert Louis Stevenson, Charles Rennie Macintosh and Robert Burns a full list is available on the Scottish Parliament website.
