Capensinidin (Cp) is a water soluble, blue-red plant dye. It is a 5-methoxy analog of malvidin, has been obtained from Plumbago capensis (Harborne, 1962).

It is one of the five rare O-methylated flavonoids, namely azaleatin, 5-O-methylmyricetin, capensinidin, pulchellidin and europinidin.
