Capital IQ is a provider of information and analytical tools for investment bankers, money managers, and other financial professionals.[1]

Capital IQ provides web-based information services that combine information on companies worldwide along with a variety of software applications that allow financial professionals to analyze company fundamentals, build financial models, screen for investment ideas, and execute other financial research tasks. Capital IQ has more than 4,200 clients including all major investment banks and hundreds of buy-side firms. Some of its competitors include SNL Financial, Bloomberg L.P., Thomson Reuters, and FactSet. Components of Capital IQ’s offering includes data on public companies, private companies, auditable company financials, M&A/financing transactions, public offerings, corporate executives and board directors, compensation, news, filings, screening tools, chart builder, Excel Plug-In modeling tool, real-time market data and news, relationship tree, macroeconomic data, industry analyses, investment research, and more.

History

Capital IQ was founded in 1999 and currently operates as a division of Standard & Poor's since its acquisition by McGraw-Hill Companies in 2004.[2] The company is headquartered in New York City and has satellite offices in United Kingdom, India, and throughout North America. Capital IQ has more than 3,000 employees, with roughly 300 employees in NYC.
