Carl Petter Opsahl (born 1964 in Oslo, Norway) is a clarinettist and composer.
He began professionally with the Caledonia Jazzband in 1982.
In 1986 he moved to New Orleans to study the music of clarinet players such as Willie Humphrey. here he played with among others Wendell Brunious, The All Star Brass Band and toured in Japan with the Rebirth Brass Band.
In 1992 he formed the Chateau Neuf Spelemannslag, which disbanded in 1992.
Carl Petter Opsahl has written articles on jazz for norwegian jazz magazine Jazznytt and for the daily newspaper Verdens Gang (VG) and authored a book on jazz history, En fortelling om jazz (Unipub, ISBN- 82-7477-059-5 Oslo 2001).
