Carl Stanley McGee is a
lawyer and assistant secretary for policy and planning and for
Deval Patrick,
Governor of
Massachusetts.
Originally from
Alabama, McGee lives in
Boston.
Professional and Public life
McGee attended
Harvard Law School and was a
Rhodes Scholar in
1992 <ref>

He once worked as a corporate lawyer for the
WilmerHale law firm.

More recently, McGee was the civic and business outreach director for
MassEquality, an organization seeking to legalize
gay marriage throughout
New England, before taking his current position in the Patrick administration.
Arrest for sexual assault
In the early morning hours of
December 29,
2007, McGee was arrested by the
Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies for sexual assault on a victim over age 12 with physical force.

There have been no widespread calls for McGee's resignation, although he has been placed on administrative unpaid leave since the arrest was made public.
Governor Patrick declined to comment on the matter pending outcome of his trial.

McGee remains free on

bail.
McGees original trial was scheduled for January 28, but he received a continuance until February 11th, 2008.

On March 20, 2008 all charges against McGee had been dropped because investigators were unable to locate any witnesses or find any physical evidence too corroborate the story of the 15-year old.
Assistant State Attorney Francine Donnorummo of the Florida Attorney General's office reported that the teen had difficulty identifying McGee as his attacker.
There was also no video surveillance or forensic evidence supporting the teen's claims, according to the documents.
McGee's remains on unpaid leave from his job in the Patrick administration.
