Carnage Blender is a free text-based multiplayer role-playing game in the MMORPG genre. The current version, Carnage Blender 2 (CB2), is the sequel to CB1, which was discontinued in 2005.

Plot and setting

The game has no plot or setting per-se and essentially involves many players all competing in the same game world to attain ultimate power and be the top scorer. The community concept is a strong driving force for encouraging one to attain top rankings.

Concepts

The concept of the game is to fight several battles per day using a variety of armor, spells, tactics and weapons to defeat opponents at or above the player's score. For each victory, a certain amount of money and experience is awarded. Experience can be used to boost the attributes of a player's character while money can be used to purchase or upgrade items. Items can be upgraded at an in-game blacksmith or by the player using forging skills.

Gameplay and features

The game is in essence simple to play but as the player progresses, more strategy and skill is required to remain competitive. The game has a beginners tutorial, a mentorship program and a forum and wiki. The game is free but players can become a supporter if they choose so. Supportership has a few added benefits, all of which are not essential for playing the game but which may simplify certain things (eg. the ability to save a list of favourite opponents).
