BIOGRAPHY:
Carroll Seabrook Leatherman was born in 1928 in Memphis, into a family with a pedigree as ‘Old South’ as it gets.
She is a direct descendant of
William Carroll, former governor of Tennessee.
Although she grew up in Depression-era Memphis, she also grew up on her grandparents’ plantation in Tunica County Mississippi.
She was educated at Finch College in New York City.
She and her husband, Richard Leatherman, live in Memphis, yet maintain ties to their Mississippi roots.
The Library at Lake Comorant Elementary is named after her, and her family has donated 150 acres to the Desoto County School System.

Goodbye Ole Miss is dedicated to her late son, Dick.
