Caruthers Fair

The last weekend of every September, the community of Caruthers holds the Caruthers District Fair [1]. It is considered the largest "free gate" fair in California and attracts thousands of people every year during the four-day event. Unlike most modern fairs, the Caruthers Fair has a flair for local flavor with ableskievers, enchiladas and pies baked daily at some of the food booths which are run by non-profit local organizations. The last day of the fair includes a parade.
