Cassandra Hawkins, Knott's Berry Farm,
2005.
Cassandra Ruby Hawkins (1989-) was born in Redding, California
on December 15, 1989 to Terry and Valda Hawkins. After moving to
the Coachella Valley, the family lived in several homes, finally
settling in a city that is either Palm Desert or Bermuda Dunes or
La Quinta, but nobody is quite sure which one.
Early and
Awkward Life
Throughout elementary school, Cassandra wore
excessively large cat shirts and had no friends. Her obsession with
cats ran deep. As she often remarks now when she sees a feline
item, "I would have loved that when I was a kid!" Unsurprisingly,
Cassandra had few friends in her first years of school. She almost
because friends with the mentally handicapped boy who enjoyed
listening to the "Macarena," but he was far too engrossed in the
song to pay attention to her. It was not until middle school that
Cassandra's social life blossomed.
Middle School and Band
Upon entering the sixth grade, Cassandra enrolled in Palm
Desert Middle School's beginning band. It was here that she first
demonstrated her incredible prowess with the flute. From the
beginning, she had her heart set on being a member of the marching
band as well. To further her career, she became a "tall flag" in
the colorguard. Cassandra gained expert marching experience and
huge man arms by participating in various parades throughout the
year. By her seventh grade year, she utterly dominated the other
flutes with her supreme playing and marching skills. By eight grade
there was simply no hope for any marchers anywhere in the world,
except for her long-time friend Danny Nguyen who possesses equally
magnificent powers.
High School and Friends
Cassandra,
who is currently in the eleventh grade, has enrolled in many
rigorous courses at Palm Desert High School. These include Physics
Honors, World History AP, US History AP, Biology AP, and English
Language AP. She has been a member of both the marching band and
the wind ensemble for all three years thus far, the latter being an
incredible feat for anyone. Cassandra is famous on campus for her
incredibly insightful "Scribe Reports," which she created in her
sophomore English class. However, she is also known for her
superhuman dedication to her friends. Through her teasing and
jugular pops, Cassandra has proven her loyalty and integrity time
and time again.
Interests and Hobbies
As has been
previously mentioned, Cassandra is an active member of the band and
colorguard community. She plays the flute and bass flute expertly
and dominated the flag line in colorguard. During the summer of
2006, Cassandra was a member of the Pacific Crest Drum Corps. She
also participated in Palm Desert High School's winterguard program
during the 2006 winter season. Outside of school, Cassandra enjoys
music, the internet, all things Asian, cats, TV, and bad horror
movies. Some of her favorite websites are
[2238]Toothpaste for Dinner,
[2239], Natalie Dee,
[2240]Threadless, and
[2241]YouTube. Cassandra is generally
kind-hearted and humble, gladly accepting any gifts that come her
way.
Family History
Cassandra has a richly diverse family
history. She has sprung from the loins of hillbillies, WASPs, and
probably a black person or two. Two of her distantly related
cousins are married to each other and have several children. One of
her great great uncles, a redneck known for erratic behavior, made
banjos out of dead cats. Sadly, her father's mother died before she
was born, so not much is known about her. However, her mother's
mother is still alive and kicking. Cassandra's Grandma Grace is
quite a character. The mountains surrounding the Coachella Valley
remind her of a woman's breasts, and she never fails to see the
faults of others. Sometime in the near future, Cassandra plans to
mail a thong to her because she knows that she will enjoy
it.
Cassandra's mother (Valda) and father (Terry) represent the
epitome of the "American Dream." Valda married Terry when she was
just 17, but she showed maturity beyond her years. Neither of
Cassandra's parents earned a college degree, but both are very
successful business people today. They are truly delightful people.
Both have been heavily involved in her life from the beginning,
despite their busy work schedules. Valda never misses an
opportunity to share what she has learned in life with her
Cassandra and her friends. Just the other day, she described in
detail the correct way to steal someone's kidney to sell on the
black market. However, she also takes great pride in hearing about
Cassandra's amazing ideas and talents. She often applauds
Cassandra's own theories about strip clubs, gangsters, and science
fair projects.
