Catchword was a daytime word game show first shown on BBC1 from 17 April 1985 until 2 April 1986, hosted by Gyles Brandreth, and then on its sister channel BBC2 from 5 January 1988 until 23 May 1995, hosted by Paul Coia.

Three contestants took it in turns to form words from a series of three random letters, beginning with the first letter and using the next two in that order. For example, TGR could be used to make ToGetheR. Depending on the round, contestants would be given ten sets of letters (one word from each), or in a fixed time, make as many words as possible from one set. The Chambers Dictionary was the standard reference for all words.
