Catmother is an open-source 3d engine created by game development company Cat Mother Ltd. The company has now closed its offices, but in their last meeting the company board decided to open source all company code, as well as a large part of the content from their game prototype "Dead Justice". The source code is published under BSD license and the content is published under GPL license. All material can be downloaded from catmother.sourceforge.net.

The Catmother 3D Engine was an in-house multi-purpose 3D engine developed by Jani Kajala. It has many features that other commercial engines may envy, such as advanced AI, pixel shader support and animation blending. The animations in the demo "Dead Justice" are smooth, realistic, and various. The character Harley can roll, throw empty shell cases, run, crouch, shoot, kick and gun-butt his enemies. Every character is detailed and the demo looks, feels and plays like an actual commercial game. If the company Catmother hadn't closed it's offices, they could've made a big bang with their new games...
