The causal realm or causal body is, according to mystical and religious traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Surat Shabd Yoga, Theosophy and Integral theory, a state or structure of consciousness that results from formless mysticism — the contemplation of the reality that is prior to the emergence of form or manifestation. This is thought to correspond to the Buddhist conception of Nirvana. It is subsequent to the subtle realm and thus is sometimes called the "very subtle" realm.
