The
Causey
Way is a
punk
rock group formed by Causey in 1997, as a division of The
Causey Way, formed in 1995. (Members and supporters of The Causey
Way say they are not a cult.) The members of the Causey Way wear
white uniforms with black armbands when performing.
Band
biographies say that Causey formed this "group" (religion) when he
was skateboarding as
Scott Stanton and landed on his face, damaging
his nose. He was enlightened and wished to start anew. He then
created "The Causey Way". Future members of the group were not
allowed to have any prior musical experience, although one
exception was made for Boy Causey, a.k.a. "Brian" (see
Man or
Astroman, also
Servotron).
Causey Way currently has three
albums:
With Loving and Open Arms,
Causey
Versus Everything and
What Would Causey
Do?.
As of 2001, the band had a total number of 17
different musicians, including former
Dead Kennedys member
Jello Biafra. The Causey
Way toured Europe in 2000.
BeginningsScott
Stanton was raised in
Pensacola, FL. He attended St. Pauls Catholic
School, and was part of a youth gang called the "Tuskeys" formed in
1980. This Gang was formed in response to the then L & N
railroad train disasters in Pensacola, Fl. Causey and his family
were evacuated and subjected to Amonia Sulfide. In response, Andrew
Sattimio, Rodney Sellars, Kent Stanton (One of Causeys older
brothers) form a group called the Tuskeys ( From the Tusky Staff, a
railroad wrench found later at the site of the derailment). They
caused mischief and delayed L&N trains that rolled through the
disaster area in the aftermath. This led to throwing Dummies in
Road and on Bikes to bring attention to the natural violation of L
& N Railroad.
They were heavily influenced by Devo and
sought answers to life's issues in their lyrics. Whip it was a big
favorite and compelled all members to succeed, except for Kent
Stanton.
His older brother Glenn Stanton was a major skate board
addict and had a big influence on a young Causey before the
accident.
The "Causey Way" started when acts of "Instruction"
against L & N took place. When Youge Causey asked " Why are we
doing this" the response was " Because, it is the way of
instruction". Hence the Causey was deemed the reason for many
things.
