Overview


The Center for Non Profit Excellence (CNPE) is a non-profit group founded in 1999 to help Louisville area non-profits network, develop their organizations, and better serve the needs of the community.<ref><a href="http://www.cnpe.org">CNPE</a></ref>

Mission


The mission of CNPE is to serve regional nonprofits in their quest for excellence and efficiency through education, consultation, and services for their staff, volunteers, and board members.

History


The Center was founded in 1999 on behalf of Louisville Metro United Way, Donor's Forum and Louisville city government. Kevin Connelly was appointed Founding Director, and still serves as CNPE's Executive Director today.<ref><a href="http://www.cnpe.org/about/staff">CNPE Staff</a></ref>

CNPE regularly runs training sessions for non-profit boards<ref><a href="http://louisville.bizjournals.com/louisville/stories/2008/03/03/tidbits9.html">Get on Board</a></ref>, grant writers<ref><a href="http://www.tgci.com/training/scheduledworkshop.asp?hostid=232&hoststatename=Kentucky&hostname=Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNPE)&week2=&month1=June &week=2-6&siteid=268&classtype=GTP&yearstart=2008&translater=&statustranslation=0&hostcontact=Alina Prusak&hostemail=apabinprusak@cnpe.org&hosttel=(502) 618-5328">Grantsmanship Center</a></ref>, and start-up clinics for new non profit organizations. It also operates a lending library of useful books for non-profit management, strategic planning, resource development, and leadership. CNPE also has corporate and foundation members to enhance the ability to network and connect the non-profit and for-profit sectors.
