About CITA

Central Iowa Telugu Association (CITA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to Telugu culture and to bring unity among Telugu speaking community of Central Iowa. CITA was formed in 2009 and was formally registered as a non-profit organisation in Iowa. Most of the people in CITA belong to Des Moines, IA.


CITA is planning to conduct a Telugu Literary event called Baalala Saahitya Samaavesam on September 25th 2010. This event will have 3 types of competitions.

  • Essay Writing in English
Category 1 (Ages 13 to 19): Glorious Rulers of Andhra Pradesh
Category 2 (Ages 12 and below): My favourite Andhra Festival
  • Elocution in Telugu - My favourite Andhra Festival
  • Telugu Poetry Recitation

Kids can participate in all 3 events if they are interested.
