College History
The Centre for Distance Education (CD-ED) was created as part of
McKenzie College in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1996.
In 1999, CD-ED was acquired by KnowledgeHouse, Inc<ref>http://www.cbc.ca/ns/features/knowledgehouse/timeline.html</ref>.
In 2000/2001, CD-ED management changed hands again.
The Centre for Distance Education is an online private career college and as such is a member of the Private College Association of Nova Scotia (PCANS) and the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) in Canada.
The college is also a member of the Better Business Bureau <ref>http://maritimeprovinces.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=156&bbb=0087&firm=18912</ref>.
CD-ED now offers 4 online diploma programs, plus 7 diploma programs through digital arts division, the Digital Arts Technology Training Institute.

Students become proficient in office practices and software, as well as how manage an office, receive visitors, build applications and write & file office correspondence.
Medical Office Administration<br>
Students become proficient in office practices and software, as well as how to manage a medical office, receive visitors, and build applications.
There is a strong emphasis placed on learning medical terminology & transcription throughout the program.
Legal Office Administration<br>
Students learn all about the general operations of a modern law office – serving as a receptionist / secretary, recording appointments & court dates, telephone etiquette, processing mail, composing legal documents, and recording accounting transactions.
Business Accounting<br>
Students learn business math, online bookkeeping, account management and spreadsheets as well as the manual style of accounting.
