History

Chaz (Charles Jason Houser) was born July 18, 1984 in Nürnberg, Germany. He roamed Europe until the age of seven, where he later lived in Issaquah Washington, Kirkland, Dayton Ohio, El Paso, San Francisco, and Houston. Chaz studied Wu Shu Kung Fu in El Paso with Jamie Pedez. He also attended high school in El Paso and later graduated in Houston. Chaz has one smaller brother, Justin Ryan Houser, that is seven years younger than him. Near the end of high school, Chaz slowly began to loose interest with academics all together. Artwork was a main focus at this time. He would somehow manage to graduate at the bottom of his class and move to San Francisco, where he would attend The Art Institute of San Francisco.

Early Work

the age of seventeen, Chaz was producing digital renderings that would later be published worldwide in Computer Arts Magazine. Attending art school in San Francisco, Chaz majored in Game Art and Design. He would only make it to his 2nd quarter before he was evicted from school housing for alcohol consumption. With no place to stay, Chaz lived in his Mustang for a period of 4 months. Near the end of his stay in San Francisco, fellow classmates Harvey and Kareem welcomed Chaz into their home.

Tired of technical drawings and meaningless artwork, Chaz was terminated from The Art Institute with a CGPA of 1.2 at the end of his 3rd quarter. He would move back to Houston where he attended a community college, taking mostly art classes. This is where Chaz was able to experiment with sculpting and casting. A specific incident involving 24 castings of his middle finger and disorderly conduct towards the campus police would grant him the privilege of being the new community colleges first conduct case. The administrative lady in charge of this was very excited.

In the year 2004 posing as a new student, Chaz re-enrolled at the Art Institute of Houston. He did not mention his past history with the San Francisco campus. He would go on to picking a random major, Graphic Design. Here he developed the "kill tv" campaign, along with other works involving goodwill and happy land.

After College

After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design, Chaz went to work for Southwest Museum Services. There, he designed various graphics and rendered 3d models. A typical day of work would be other designers destroying each others cubicle space.

Sickened by seeing everyone else with the same paint job as he had, he decided to paint his 1998 former red Mustang GT.

The Beer

Chaz has sampled hundreds of beers of various style. Among his favorites is Eye of the Hawk and Pale Ales.

Inspirations

Major inspirations are mostly surrounded by Basquiat's work. One of the most inspirational artist to Chaz was a friend named Daniel Herrera. His machine like drawings inspired Chaz to create a single drawing over a period of years refining detail work.
