Background
Beginnings
Williamson
grew up in
Calgary, Alberta and began studying music
at the age of 15, while attending a boarding school for boys
outside
Edmonton, Alberta. During his teenage
years, he sang and played guitar for various Calgary
punk rock bands that didn't
amounted to any significant success, other than a few
self-sponsored shows at community centres across the city. His
focused then shifted to the production of electronic music using
various pieces of looping software, his skill as a
multi-instrumentalist, and his keen fascination with breaks and
deep house. He produced an electronic album called
Symphony of
Night and sold about thirty copies at his high school. For its
construction, he used a copy of
Cool Edit 2000. To this day, it remains lost
and virtually
forgotten.<ref>

After graduating
high school from
West Island College, he settled into
various apartments in Calgary’s downtown core and developed a
strong interest in acoustic music. He also became a student of
Mount Royal College to obtain his degree
in
journalism,
photography and
applied communications. It was during this time that he recored his
first two solo albums,
Living Through Fiction and
Cerulia, both comprised of an equal blend of original
material and cover
tracks.<ref>
