Chaman (also spelt Chamman) (Pashto/Urdu: چمن ) is a town located in, and capital of, Qilla Abdullah District, Balochistan, Pakistan. Chaman is situated just south of the border with Afghanistan. Across the border in Afghanistan is its companion town, Spin Boldak, in the province of Kandahar. Chaman city has a population of 1000,000.the major and dominant tribe is achakzai the branch of pashtoon(afghan).[1]

Chaman has a major railway station which accommodates passengers coming from Kandahar as well as other parts of Afghanistan. A slow passenger train runs between Chaman and Quetta daily bases. In 2008, it was proposed to extend this railway through Afghanistan to central Asia.
The city is a famous trade point in Balochistan.the metrail from Afghanistan and fort qasim karachi are import and export through Chaman. The famous ghazal king, Mehdi Hassan, sang a ghazal about the town. The lyrics are Chalte ho to chamamn ko chaliyeh kehta hai ka baharan hai., which means "If you want to travel lets visit Chaman it's spring time there." Chaman is an important crossing-point into Afghanistan, and has been used by NATO forces as a supply route.The biggest dry port in pakistan and one of the major port in asia.The trade is generally controled by ACHAKZAI' one of the big tribe of pushtoons.[2]
the chaman is famous by its strong players of football all around the country .the football club like afghan club and muslim club represents the city though foot ball since 1940.the chaman football provide so many plyers to pakistan national team(mohammad essa,hayat ullah exc)The town is also home to a football (soccer) club - Afghan FC, which plays in the Pakistan Premier League. Two players from this team are playing for the Pakistan national football team, including the captain, Muhammad Essa. The Jamal Nasir Shaheed Stadium is there.[3]
Chaman is a major supply route for NATO forces in Afghanistan.
On August 30, 2009, an attack on a NATO convoy destroyed 20 fuel tankers and other supply trucks. The attackers reportedly fired rockets and small arms before detonating the trucks.[4][2]
