The phrase catches. And there's a reason.
You're going to hear
it often, from now on.
Go to www.changetheworld.org and find a
home to get involved. Your world needs you. And just as important,
your world is here to help.
When the tsunami hit Thailand, we
all watched, detached, distanced, as bodies were swept away, many
lost forever. I watched too and let those images sink in. Not long
after, it became apparent; I had to do something. We all had to do
something. I had to volunteer.
After searching the worldwideweb
for a system to donate my time, my money, my resources, my self, I
realized that no such method existed. So I kept searching. I found
plenty of donate buttons but where the moeny would go was anybody's
guess. I had to do something.
Many people feel moved by
disasters. The best of people come out in such times. But sometimes
the problems of day-to-day existence can become overwhelming.
Changtheworld provides any user a place to ask for help. And a
place for anyone, anywhere to offer it.

Peace prize in economics for it's work in poverty.
Letter of
Concept Introduction
CHANGE THE WORLD
Omidyar.net analysts
indicate that 30 Trillion dollars will enter the social change
sector of economics in the next 2 decades. By way of example, the
United Nations announced this season that Gender Based Violence
costs over 5.8 Billion dollars a year - in the US alone. If one
could find a method to reduce the amount of abuse, consider
something as simple as a private organization to oversee various
sorts of temporary restraining orders, it may be possible to reduce
both the sum cost of such abuses, as well the numbers of abuses
themselves. This is but one of hundreds of the substantial issues
plaguing our planet and one minor possible solution to a small
percentage of those affected. Shall we consider also hunger,
homelessness, slavery, water resources, and so on? Shall we discuss
Peak Oil and the inevitable demand for alternative energies and
fuels, transportation and community systems that according to Rand
Corporation Analysts must take place within the next twenty years?
There are currently several thousand large charity
organizations around the world, each trying to do their part. Tens
of thousands of smaller ones as well as other groups, individuals,
government and non-governmental organizations with intent to create
cures of these social or environmental issues. But it is nowhere
near enough. The tools are not yet available for these groups to
network together in any functional, systematic fashion.
THE
WEBSITE
Think MySpace meets the United Nations.
Within two
months, anyone with access to the web will be able to upload to
this website any issue of concern for them, their family,
community, private or public agency, company, government or
environment. Or issues for the benefit of someone else. The website
will be established in every written language. The site will be
designed to network group or individual concerns of any urgency
with groups or individuals from around the world that are in a
position to provide help.
Imagine a villager in, say, Pakistan.
The dam above his village of 3,000 is cracking and has started to
leak. The villager doesn't know what this means, really, or what
might happen. But he types in his Issue: someone to examine the
dam, here's a photograph. In Berkeley, California, a Professor of
Structural Engineering has just heard about the website from his
students and posted himself, his knowledge, as a Resource. The
website puts the two in contact. A team is coordinated and a
volunteer flies to the village with a satellite feed and a digital
camera. More engineers from various fields are contacted to watch
the live feed webcast as our volunteer walks around the dam, and,
while we're at it, other parts of the village to determine the best
solution and how best to execute it. The degreed professionals give
counsel of various sorts based on the data provided from the feed.
If the dam needs a cure, the website will coordinate the request
for concrete and other construction materials from the closest
donor(s) then enlist transportation of those supplies as well as a
crew or group of individuals who have also posted their
availability and willingness to donate time and skills to such a
cause.
Bring this concept home, to an issue close to
you.
Think ebay ..... except that on one side of the exchange
are individuals posting "Issues" that need solving. On the other
side are individuals, groups of any kind, size or purpose, as well
as governments or transnational corporations. Anyone with any
resource can post it, from extra medicine to mothballed aircraft.
These entities will be able to list their "Resources"... knowledge,
skills, finances or other resources which they are offering to the
global improvement. The software will do the rest.
OUR VERY
NEAR FUTURE
The youth of America feel that there is no hope.
We've been watching our teens grow ever more detached,
disinterested and overwhelmed with feelings of their complete
inability to stop the inevitable downslide. The system in place is
not working and yet it's too well established to do anything about
it. This is about to change.
With the introduction of this
website and the events coordinated in hip marketing fashion,
feelings of Opportunity and Possibility will exist to these youth
as they never has before. Further to that, positive opportunities
for feelings of community, local and global will be readily
accessible. Teens have never actually had such a possibility
available to them. At first, only a percentage of teens will value
such a network, an opportunity to change their world. But college
students will be only weeks behind them and when the college
students sign on, it will endorse the teen's hopes that these
as-yet unrecognized feelings of optimism are validated. And action
will begin right there, at first, on the web, where they spend most
of their time. Professors and other professionals will be but days
behind the students.
Every charity organization on the planet
will be able to access the website for free. By doing so, they will
access every other charity of their kind, as well as those which
overlap or cross-purpose with theirs. The larger the network, the
greater the number of solutions are possible, and therefore, the
greater number of cures may be realized.
By this time next
year, programs will be regularly created that will ignite optimism
in not only teens, but in everyone on the planet that cares.
Getting involved will be popular.
THINGS TO PONDER
Why is
Bill Gates leaving Microsoft to run his charitable organization?
Philanthropy, right? Of course this is true. But nothing Bill Gates
does, loses money. Bill Gates will be the world's first
trillionaire... his organizations will gather further immense power
as the trend toward social change finds it's footing in this
software. It will be apolitical in any social context to dismiss
Global Improvement of any sort.
The website discussed herein
will allow the human citizens to do what the UN has been trying to
do since it's inception. The individuals will find themselves as
part of a global network for change. Each visitor to the site will
see actual results of groups which have formed, issues which have
been solved. We will all be able to be an actual part in
improvement, and we will be able to watch it happen. As the numbers
grow, the world will attain a critical mass of intention and
interest toward improvement and change. Of mutual support and
social and environmental responsibility. That's when the world will
change.
LET'S DO THIS NOW
This letter is designed to inform
you of this new environment for social change and global
improvement and to hopefully enlist your involvement, as we seek to
establish specific relationships in your particular geographical
region or area of professional expertise. I am hoping that your
organization could join us, use/combine with our efforts to
coordinate a with ours, and any and all others, to make this the
grandest event possible, for the greatest good
imaginable.
