The
Chaosrealm is a fictional realm in the
video game series
Mortal Kombat.
Chaosrealm knows no laws either of man or nature.
The inhabitants of Chaosrealm hold freedom in the highest esteem, relishing in utter chaos and adhering to no standards or laws.
The realm has been sought by the Seidan to be a controlled area (primarily because the Chaosrealm has vast reserves of water, a scarce commodity in the realm of
Seido.) However, the Chaosrealm inhabitants do not take the Seidan very seriously, and almost make it their duty to bring ruin to whatever order the Seidan establish.
Natives
Havik Non-native residents:
KabalNote: Several other characters, such as Kira and Scorpion, are also seen in the Chaosrealm as part of the Konquest storyline, however, the overall canon of the mini-game is questionable (outside of the plot where
Shujinko obtains the
Kamidogu,) so their appearances are really just as cameos.
About Chaosrealm
Chaosrealm is the complete opposite of
Orderrealm.
There are no rules and chaos
reigns supreme.
The civilization that
Shujinko visits in
Konquest mode is made up of floating rock formations,
linked together by teleportation devices.
The inhabitants worship water and
its formless nature.
Chaosrealm isn't the official name of the realm, but
the inhabitants seemingly refuse to have one.
The inhabitants of this realm are
anarchists to the extreme, so much so that it affects their speech.
When Shujinko travels there, almost everyone he talks to speaks in a way that that makes no sense whatsoever (an effect the game makers achieved by heavily distorting the audio).
Players can understand what they say by the normal subtitles at the bottom of the screen.
A similar speech pattern also applies to several people in the
Netherealm.
It is later revealed that the inhabitants of the Chaosrealm are actually talking backwards, revealing several hidden messages about the Mortal Kombat universe and even from the programmers of the game.
The locals, familiar with the hostilities that surround them, are always prepared for whatever happens, and Shujinko learns come one of its residents, Havik, the rules for surviving this tough realm, almost leading to the point of killing him while in training.
Hidden Messages
The following are several of the messages that can be revealed when the speech of an inhabitant of the Chaosrealm (or, in some cases, an inhabitant of the Netherrealm) is played backwards:
('Warning:
Several of them comtain spoilers!)
"Ed Boon 490, Ed Boon 490, Ed Boon 490." "The spirit of Liu Kang will live on!" "The Shokan and the Centaurs are rivals, both seeking Shao Kahn's favour." "Scorpion is the true
champion of the Elder Gods!" "It is a little known fact that Ermac is short for Error Macro
." "There's a little bit of me in everyone." "The body of Liu Kang has been reanimated.
It has wrought destruction on his shaolin brothers." "This video game is dedicated to our homies." "The Void is a place beyond the realms where the Elder Gods dwell." "Raiden will return from annihilation, though he will not be as he once was...." "Reiko is not Shao Kahn, though, sometimes, he secretly wears the emperor's helmet." "Will Hsu Hao return from the dead?
Err....probably not." "Drink milk.
Get plenty of sleep.
Listen to your parents.
Do your homework."
Ironically, the Chaosrealm inhabitants seem to have caught on to Onaga's schemes to manipulate Shujinko quicker than he did, as one hidden message reads:
"You are being deceieved!"
Misc
Apparently it used to be a normal realm until the God of Chaos had unleashed
the Tempest there.
That seems to be what changed everyone in the realm, to the
point of it ruining people's memory and whatnot.
Some people in Chaosrealm remark that the dimension is kept in constant change by the "yingese" and the "yangese", which obviously refers to the Yin-Yang.
Because water is said to be rare in the Orderrealm, the Seidan guards attempt to steal it from the Realm of Chaos, which is considered sacrilegious to it's water-worshipping inhabitants.
Native realm species:
The people of the choas realm are human-like.
Their racial features and expressions often look menacing and often have outragous or strange hairstyles.
They are unpredicatable and can be quite rude.
They savor war and fighting and hate the realm of Order.
Many of their race hail orginally from there seeking freedom from the supressive ways of the realm of order.
Very few talk like normal.
