Charles Dundas (born
19 July 1978) was the
Liberal Democrats' candidate for the
by-election held in the
Livingston
constituency, following the death of the Rt. Hon.
Robin Cook MP.
Charles was
born in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire and brought up in the village
of
Fauldhouse,
West Lothian.
He joined the Liberal Democrats in 1995 and first
stood for election in 1999's
West Lothian Council local
elections.
At the
University of Glasgow - where he
studied History - Charles became an active member of the student
Liberal Democrat Association, the Students Representative Council,
the
Glasgow University Union and the
debating society. He then went on to a become a accounts assistant
for the
National Australia Bank in Glasgow.
His first parliamentary candidature was in the General Election of
2001 where he stood in
Glasgow
Baillieston.
Since then Charles has become a researcher in
the
Scottish Parliament; and at the General
Election in May 2005 he was Agent to the Liberal Democrats' Deputy
Leader Sir
Menzies Campbell.
Charles has been
married since 2004 to Siobhan Mathers.
