From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charles Thilorier was a scientist who gave the earliest description of dry ice, the solid form of carbon dioxide. In 1834 he opened a pressurized container of liquid carbon dioxide, only to find that the cooling produced by the rapid evaporation of the liquid yielded a "snow" of solid CO2. He is credited with the discovery of CO2.
