Biography

Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit, he took the midnight train goin' anywhere. On the eve of July 6, 1975, Charles Thun was born to an aching mother and Rudolf Thun, a physics professor at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. As a child, young Charles was plagued by the competiton and success of his siblnigs Rudolf Jr. "Rudy", a Cornell graduate who works for AOL in Wisconsin, and Rachel, a corporate executive in Maryland. To compensate for his short-comings, Charles challeneged his brother and sister to nightly arm-wreslting matches and cheesey-joke contests.

His childhood was spent in a strict German-American household in which the values of science and conformity were the norm. Love was a foreign word in his adolescence. His father strongly discouraged an athletic participation and forced him to spend many nights studying the Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica and Mein Kampf. His hate for children and happiness stems from this weekly ritual. However, Charles found an outlet for his anger and frustration in basketball. Sadly, one day in his 6th grade PE class, he was chosen last for a basketball game and abandoned his NBA dreams. He remains an avid fan of the Detroit Pistons and has been seen apart of Rasheed Wallace's personal entourage.

After numerous attempts to "fit-in", he discovered his façon-vivre in billiards at local pubs and brothels. His skills surpassed any amateur his age and was labeled "The Great One", but his battles with alcoholism and numerous gambling debts prevented the rise to his professional career. At the age of 17, Charles discovered his first set of weights behind an adult movie theater. He vividly describes this memory as "The touch of the iron against my clay-colored, lotioned hands brought me to a peaceful oasis called the gym...I would never be the same again". He would spend the rest of his high school days in the weight room, determined to regain the affection of his adored lover Elizabeth Loftus.

At the tender age of 18, Charles entered Indiana University with aspirations of majoring in communications. A change of setting and a new group of friends helped Charles flourish in academics and develop a social life. His ability to chug eighteen beers in ten minutres transformed him into a campus-socialite. He had promiscuous night life, sleeping in a different dorm room every night and was soon titled "That Guy". After numerous complaints of his "immature" behavior, the dean threatened to expulse him unless he served forty hours of community service through karaoke. He graduated with a B.A. in psychology in 1997.

He began his teaching career at Hillsdale High School in Hillsdale, MI until he decided to move to California in 2003. The cross-country move provided him relief and tranquility. He arrived on the shores of sunny Santa Monica, CA with his two beloved cats, four suitcases, and a teaching position at Santa Monica High School. He quickly became a student-favorite at Samohi and retains tenure as the AP Psychology teacher.

Current Status

He is a member of the famous Gold's Gym where he continues his passion for body building. He has been rumored to be dating Amanda, a woman with whom he shares a strong emotional bond. At the age of 30, Charles does not have any desire to plant his seed and have children, but in many ways, the students whom he teaches are his own children and will carry on the Thun legacy for years and years to come.
