"Child-Killer" case opened
22 January 1995 - closed
27 April 1995 under
HH Judge Marina Kokadze.
The "Child-Killer" was a landmark case in the relatively short history of the
Georgian judicial system.
Recently released (
14 August 2005), the censored case dossier is publicly available by request.
[715] The "Child-Killer" case involved a triple
homicide in the Sololaki district of
Tbilisi.
The homicide victims were siblings, Turkish immigrants residing in Sololaki,
Tbilisi: Yilmaz Ċetinkaya (male, age of 8), Tunċe Ċetinkaya (male, age of 11) and Hatiċe Ċetinkaya (female, age of 13).
Leo Vardiashvili (male, age 12) and sibling
Luka Vardiashvili (male, age 6) were apprehended, charged on
20 April 1995, deemed guilty and later released as a result of their age - held unaccountable by Georgian Law.
[716] The decision caused wide-spread controversy in the
Republic of Georgia.
Judging the Vardiashvili siblings to be in danger the court made the decision to extradite them to the
United Kingdom to be held under supervision.
Their presence was last reported on
November 3 2006 in
London, UK.
