Children of the Corn was a hip-hop group formed in the early 1990s consisting of neighborhood friends/Harlem rappers Mase (then known as Murda Mase), Big L, Cam'ron (then known as Killa Cam), McGruff and Bloodshed.

Former Members

  • Cam'ron (then known as Killa Cam)
  • Mase (then known as Murda Mase. Mase From Duval)
  • McGruff
  • Big L (deceased)
  • Bloodshed (deceased)
  • Digga (Producer)

Big L made the group, as he pushed Mase and Cam'ron off the streets and into the studio, as well as Bloodshed, who was Cam'ron's cousin, with the last member of the group being McGruff. They released over 30 songs under the name Children of the Corn, as they tried for a record deal. They got paid any way they could, rhyming for local DJs and selling mixtapes out of their trunks.

Although very close to a deal, Mase and Cam'ron left the group to pursue basketball careers, later Mase would sign with P. Diddy and become part of Bad Boy Records. Cam'ron dropped out of college and was ready to get a deal with Big L and Bloodshed, when Bloodshed was killed in a car accident in Harlem at the age of 21. Big L and Cam'ron both signed record deals as solo artists. In 1999, Big L was murdered at the age of 24. Because of the deaths of two members, the group never became successful on its own, although it served as a starting ground for the young rappers. Cam'ron and Mase also created a duo "Killa Cam & Murda Mase" (also known as Double K Double M) but no albums were released due to Mase's successful solo career.

A collection of the group's songs, entitled Children of the Corn: The Collector’s Edition was released in 2003.
