Chin Wee Loon, (
Chinese
: 陈伟伦; pinyin: chén wěi lún) (born 27 May 1984 in
Penang,
Malaysia) is a
Malaysian medical student of the
Royal College of Surgeons
in Ireland,
Dublin,
Ireland. He is currently
undergoing a twinning medical program with the Penang Medical
College. He is able to communicate in
Malay,
English,
Hokkien and
Cantonese. He has a huge interest in intellectual
discourse, constructive criticisms, public debates and
elocution. He runs a
blog about
Malaysian
politics. His ambition is to be a
politician.
He studied in the
Penang
Free School (PFS),
Georgetown,
Penang,
Malaysia from 1997 to 2001. In the year 2000, he
was unexpectedly awarded the
Monash University Outstanding Achievement
Award. In the year 2001, he won the
Penang Free
School Sesquicentenary Prize for the overall best student in
Form 5. In the year 2004, he was one of the finalists of the
UMNO Pidato Piala Merdeka,
achieving 4th placing among the top 10 finalists. Among the judges

Emeritus Dato’ Dr Khoo
Kay Kim and a few
linguists from
Dewan
Bahasa dan Pustaka,
Kuala Lumpur. The competition was held on 7
September 2004 at the
Putra World Trade Centre, which
also houses the
UMNO general
headquarters named Menara

year 2005, he won the Early Patient Contact Prize organized by the
Department of
General Practice,
RCSI. In the year 2006, he was awarded a summer
research
funding by
RCSI for his
medical
research project entitled ‘
Immune Status in
Diabetics’. He is joining an essay writing
competition entitled ‘Nurturing the minds of future leaders’
organized by the
Perdana Leadership Foundation
based in
Putrajaya,
Malaysia. He is an
avid admirer of
Tun
Dr Mahathir bin
Mohamad and
Dato
Seri Anwar
Ibrahim. He supports the idea of
Vision 2020 mooted by Dr Mahathir and
respects Anwar’s
charisma in
public speaking. He is also a friend of
Fong Po Kuan
who is a
Member of Parliament of the
Democratic Action Party for
Batu Gajah,

A
Malaysian Chinese winning 4th place in the
United Malays National
Organization competition of "Echo of Independence 2004" - an
annual event to invite young people to get involved in
Malaysian politics. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd
places are all
Malays. Out
of the 10 finalists, 8 are
Malays.
