Chop Wood Carry Water is a film and television production company founded in 2006 by Edward Boyce and Doug Karr. Currently located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Chop Wood Carry Water has produced documentaries and narrative films for television as well as music videos, industrials and commercials. Chop Wood Carry Water’s commercial clients include One: The Campaign to Make Poverty History, Etsy, Velour Records, Playtex, The Lunchbox Fund, itsasickness, Amgott-Mitchell, Elle.com, Domino Magazine, Aldo, Pearson Education, Scotia Bank, American Express Canada and Rotary Club International. Their latest commercial production, a stop-motion music video for Golden Globe-nominated musician Kaki King debuted on the front page of YouTube on March 11, 2008, garnering 350,000 hits in the first two weeks.

In 2001 Doug Karr spent eight months in Malawi making Lifecycles: a story of AIDS in Malawi<ref>http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0422641/</ref>, an hour-long documentary featuring the music of Bobby McFerrin. Funded by The United Nations Project on AIDS, The National Film Board of Canada and Link TV. In May 2007 Boyce and Karr returned to Malawi to produce the follow-up project The Face of AIDS: The Feminization of HIV/AIDS in Malawi which premiered at the 2008 Big Muddy Film Festival.

Chop Wood Carry Water has made three narrative films for Bravo!Channel. Their short film Anniversary Present, starring David Alpay and Liane Balaban had its premiere on the Bravo!Channel in 2006, and has since screened at dozens of international film festivals. The Straitjacket Lottery, a 22 minute comedy focusing on a mental health bus driver who looses a busload of mentally ill patients, was commissioned by The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Bravo!Channel and stars Andy Jones, David Huband, Joe Cobden and Tara Slone. Chop Wood Carry Water’s latest narrative film Ten for Grandpa was filmed in Toronto in November 2007. Starring David Alpay and David Huband, Ten for Grandpa is a personal investigation into the life of Karr’s grandfather, an infamous Cold War merchant banker.

Chop Wood Carry Water is currently developing a slate of feature-length projects and television series. Their feature screenplay My Thermonuclear Family, won the Grand Prize in the 2007 FilmMakers International Screenplay Competition.
