Chris Bennetts (born
7th June 1987)
is Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees of
UK Youth
Parliament.
Chris Bennetts
Born in Truro, Cornwall, he moved to Halifax, West Yorkshire,
in 1990. He attended New Road Primary School,
Sowerby Bridge, and
Ryburn Valley High School,
Sowerby.
He became involved in the
UK Youth
Parliament in March 2004, when he sought and won election in
the
Calderdale
district, securing the highest single vote achieved by any
Calderdale MYP before or since. It is rumoured that the election
was rigged, as most of his votes came from his High school. Members
of a close group with links to the German Gestapo pressured voters
into voting for Mr Bennets. One well known ring leader of Bennet's
Gestapo is the man known only as M.Aziz. There was a considerable
amount of controversy which arose from Chris' winning slogan. He
stood down in November 2005 to take up a seat on the organisation's
Board of Trustees, representing
Yorkshire and the Humber region. He
went on to win election as Co-Chair of the Board in January 2007, a
role he shares with
Charles Hendry MP.
Chris is currently in
the first year of a History and Politics degree at
Pembroke College, Oxford. On 16 May
2007, he was elected by the college's Gimp Squad members to serve
as JCR Dictator for the academic year 2007/2008. Chris also holds
the firm belief that anyone who creates a Wikipedia page about
themselves is a complete bell-end.
When he finds himself
without other occupation, Chris likes to watch Test cricket, play
polo and croquet, drink Pimms, congregate with other fine gentlemen
at one of the many London Gentleman's Clubs of which he is a
member, and make progress on his biography of Margaret Thatcher
'The Thatcher Years - How one woman managed to save this nation
from a fate worse than death, namely Socialism'. It is expected to
be finished sometime in mid-2009.
