Christopher Ryan Burns, (born
May 20,
1990) is an
American Folk Rock,
Rock singer,
musician, and
songwriter.
Is also a
poet,
writer, and a play actor.
Chris is also an advocate of
human rights,
animal rights,
peace.
Several of his songs contain these topics.
Early life
1990-2000
Chris Burns was raised in a small town along the
Pennobscott River called Winterport.
He lived there since the birth of his second sibling.
As a child he was a fast runner.
He could run faster than most people he raced against, till he devolped
asthma.
Throughout his school life he devolped a short-lived personality disorder
Avoident Personality Disorder in which her would avoid all social contact.
It was thought this was a result of how his mother made him feel like dirt through emotional abuse.
By sixth grade he died, though he would remain somewhat reclusive.
Music Enters
In
2000 Chris's life long engagement in music begin.
He started as a
trumpet in the school band.
He would play trumpet in school bands for six years, till he gave it up to devote more time to the guitar.
2001-To Present
In
2001 he like many was witness to
9/11.
He watched in the classroom as the towers fell.
This event would later influence some of his
anti-war work, though he wouldn't be completely against
war for a few years.
During
2002 he began his work as a poet.
Though it was beginners work, he had a certain aspect to it, that seperated it.
A couple of his early poems written in '02-'03 were titled
Depression,
Civil War, and
P.O.W..
The following year as he proggessed to high school his works became darker.
Two examples are

The Last Morning.
Near Death
During a paintball game with a couple friends, Chris barely missed getting severely injured, and killed.
While attempting to
flank his friends, and took a postion behind a tree he failed to notice one sneaking up behind him.
He ran behind the tree to avoid being shot.
While running a paintball hit him in the arm, he turned to return fire.
But tripped over a root, twisted and tripped over his own foot, and landed 3/4 of an inch away from a pole sticking out of the ground.
After this he threw down arms.
Guitar Man
Chris started playing guitar in late '04 after the seperation of his parents.
He primialy lived with his father.
While in a lull state, he expressed longing to play a guitar.
His uncle a local radio DJ
Dave Issac heard of this, and lent Chris a guitar, and what he would need to play.
Then arranged lessons with a friend and local
musician.
Chris had six lessons, and then took on the task of learning himself.
Something that he has always been able to laugh about is how he had been misreading tab's, for a few months hw had been reading them upside down.
The first songs he learned were

Ticket To Ride, and

In
2004 his parents seperated after fifteen years together.
This would be vital in some of his later work.

Singer, Songwriter
Chris as a
singer, and
songwriter is heavily influnced by
The Beatles,
Bob Dylan,
David Byrne,
Warren Zevon,
Paul Simon and
Neil Young.
He is primarily
Folk Rock man.
In
2005 Chris wrote in the area of 110 songs.
Most of them for his
rock'n'roll band
Sapphire Strats.
In his music carrer he mainly sticks to
acoustic guitars.
Sapphire Strats
A rock group Chris, and a friend Ben formed in spring
2005.
In the group Chris takes on the roll of primary
songwriter, lead
vocals, and
rhythm guitar.
Ben had postion of
lead guitar, some
backing vocals, and wrote a few songs including
Drive Me Crazy,
This Foolish Game, and
Everytime I Turn Around.
The postions of drum, and bass have never had a permenant holder.
Chris pulls double duty with
bass.
Into The Sun
The first song Chris wrote was used with this group.
Into The Sun was the first song he wrote, with some credit to Ben.
The song is a
Folk Rock ballad about the rise to fame, love, and death.
An unrecorded version has been timed at between ten, and fifteen minutes.
The song opens with a complex acoustic intro that involves three transitions of lead player.
While one guitarist is playing lead there are two playing rhythm.
A certain points a rhythm player switches to lead, and plays a specific part.
As the song proggess's the intensity grows.
The verses are often slow, and the chorus speed's up.
After the second chorus there is a three-four minute solo.
The song goes for two more verses, and a sixty second fade out.
They have a album project of the same name
Into The Sun.
Early Writings
Most of his early work was influnced by
The Beatles, unlike later work from '06 would be more influnced by Dylan, Young, and Simon.
In the early stages he wrote a few songs.
Most delt with the recent divorce of his parents.
Most written to his father, such as
Good-Bye , and
High And Dry.
Two of his big pieces from his early writtings that show themselves as works of great cailber were
Into The Sun, and
You Will Get By a look at life and death, and what were doin' here.
He also wrote of rise and tragic end of love in
T-Junction, and a song on teenage stupidity in
Naked In The Road.
Dry Spell
During the summer of
2005 it almost came to an end.
He never met up with any of the members of the group.
"Everyone had something to do." he said.
He could never get inspired.
It seemed he used his writting up already.
Rebirth
He had a rebirth in his music after he returned to highs school, and got back in contact with lead guitarist Ben.
He wrote in September, October, and November almost seventy songs.
Most of which were about love, which he was in.
He contiuned to look at the pain of life in the songs
Tomorrow,
Life Goes On,
Love Denyed, and
Long Road To Paradise.
More cheerful songs include
City By the River,
Everytime, Everyday I Love Her, and
I'm Coming Up.
In November he started writing some more cheerful tunes like
Gimme The Horizon,
Sweet Ms. November.
Later pure rock tunes would include
When Or Where,
In The Shadows Of The Sun,
Hey Now .
Solo
In November with the lack of a permanent
bass guitarist, and
drummer he started writing music that would be his solo works.
Though he still would be working on songs for the Strats.
Folk
The music changed when he became a solo worker.
He made a tranistion to
Folk Rock.
Though this wasen't premenant for a month or two.
Most music in this era was influnced by
Bob Dylan,
Neil Young.
A couple of his most reguarded songs are
The Cold and
Last Night.
Last Night being the better of the two, it was about a man who was givin' the lethal injection, and people who believed he was innocent rioting in the streets.
It reflected his views on the subject.
A couple other of his Folk songs include
In The Blink Of An Eye, and
29 Seconds To Midnight, and
Street Side Musician.
Embrace The Times
What was to be his first album was the album
Embrace The Times.
Songs included on it are Last Night, In The Blink Of An Eye, The Cold, and the song of the same name Embrace The Times, and
The Man Who Would Be King.
The cover features a picture of him in a tan t-shirt, with his record player headphones, acoustic guitar.
The cover is a hommage of the
John Lennon cd Acoustic.
It includes a couple protest songs, and many ballads.
He on this album plays mostly a
steel string acoustic, and an acoustic guitar equiped with nylon strings.
The album currently is not released with the full public, but more locally.
Poet
As a poet his work has varied greatly.
The topics range from
anti-war, rumors,
Agoraphobia, and Emotions.
Dark
Several of his poems include some dark ones.
Often on death, pain, and suffering, and loss.
These include Depression,
A World Unseen, and
The Last Morning.
Depression, and
A World Unseen reflect on the events at the time.
Anti-War
His
Anti-War poetry includes some of his best works.
Such as
Mamaunia,
La Voie Sacree, and
They Were Young.
They often include the high casulites of war, and damage done.
They Were Young reflects on how the fact that the men who die in
war are mostly young, that that is the biggest casulite.
Mamaunia captures the fact that people get caught in the middle of a war, and have no place they can hide.
La Voie Sacree recounts one of the bloodiest battles in the history of war
Verdun.
Other
His other poems are more practical ones.
Agoraphobia is about the fear of open spaces, while Sun Shower is on that rare time, when it rains while the sun is out.
And
Are you Caught Up In This a commentary on rumors and the needless the hurt they cause people.
Acting
As an actor he has only played small roles and supporting characters, in small productions.
He has been in the play
Macbeth as the 2nd Murderer, and Young Siward.
