Chris Cain (born September 1, 1977) is the bassist and backing vocalist of New York-based band We Are Scientists. He was born in Montreal, Canada, and grew up in Utah. He went to Roland Hall/St. Marks' School.
He formed the band with fellow student Keith Murray at Pomona College, Claremont, California, in 1997, after meeting to watch Dawson’s Creek in Cain's room.[1]
Cain and his girlfriend Elizabeth, have a 3 year-old son, Dashiell Mathieu Cain, named after a mystery-writer named Dashiell Hammett.
Cain is a very humorous character, possessing a wild abstract sense of humour, often confusing the interviewer with jokes in interviews and with bandmate Murray entertaining the crowd at gigs with their banter between songs.
Chris currently uses a Gibson Thunderbird Bass Guitar, with a Bad Cat Amplifier set-up. He has also been seen using a Blue fender p-bass and a natural Rickenbacker 4003 for back-up bass'.
The pedals on his pedal board contain; | HBE Hematoma | Korg DT-10 | Morley Dual Bass Wah | MXR Phase 90 | Ashdown Sub-Octave
