Chris Hoang is a Vietnamese-American baker who currently owns Sweet Confections Cakes,
[1873] a bakery in the
West Los Angeles region.
Early Life
Born in
Liberal, Kansas[1874] on February 24, 1984, Hoang later relocated to Southern California where he attended high school in
Orange County[1875] and later recieved his
BA in Social Ecology from the [[University of California, Irvine][www.uci.edu]] and is currently pursuing a teaching credential from [[California State University, Los Angeles][www.calstatela.edu]].
He now currently resides in the
Mar Vista neighborhood of
Los Angeles[1876].
He first found interest in baking as early as the age of 8.
He found that he could make chocolate chip cookies better than those that were store bought, and as such he began to concoct various other bakery goods.
He would buy numerous volumes of baking manuals and cook books in order to help improve his baking skills.
It was not until he met Thanh Phung that he began to further pursue his baking career.
Although the two were friends at first, they eventually became rivals.
As such a lawsuit occurred.
Lawsuit
As of mid 2008 Hoang has won a victory over his long standing rival
Thanh Phung over copyright issues and ownership issues of the Sweet Confections business.
Since then, he has enjoyed relatively good success and has introduced
Vegan recipes
[1877] to the business in hopes of expanding the market with cruelty-free products.
He has considered hiring his former rival as a delivery driver.
