Personal life

Lowell was born in Atlanta, Georgia [1] He attended the Atlanta International School, where he became interested in theatre and filmmaking.[1] He currently attends the University of Southern California, where he was discovered in his first year while playing beach volleyball.[1] In his spare time, he enjoys amateur filmmaking, theatre, and traveling.[1]

Career

Discovered in 2003 after going through his first major audition, he landed a role on the ABC teen drama Life As We Know It.[1] Of the show's trio of male characters, Lowell portrayed Jonathan Fields, the "least confident but most creative and grounded of the three".[2] However, the series was cancelled after only 13 episodes. [3]

In 2006, Lowell had lead roles in the coming-of-age film Graduation[4] and also in a small film entitled You Are Here.

After the end of Life As We Know It, Lowell was cast as Stosh "Piz" Piznarski in the third season of Veronica Mars, opposite Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring. In the series, he plays a student at Hearst College, and the roommate of Veronica's best friend Wallace. Through this, Piz becomes good friends with Veronica and is perceived as a threat to the relationship between Veronica and Logan. Towards the end of the series, when Logan and Veronica split, Piz proves to be a welcome distraction to Veronica and the two form a relationship.

As of 2007, Lowell is currently a co-star in the ABC drama Private Practice, alongside Kate Walsh, Audra McDonald and Tim Daly. He plays the role of a receptionist at Oceanside Wellness Group, qualified nurse and midwife-in-training, as well as father to six-year-old daughter Betsy. The backdoor pilot aired in the US on May 3, 2007, as an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Lowell is vocalist and harmonicist for the indie acoustic band Two Shots for Poe.[5]

He also appeared in BriTANicK's YouTube videos 'Pillow Talk' and 'The Morning After'.
