Growing up, Nova Scotia native Chris Potter had aspirations of a career in theatre, but his love of physics and atmospheric science pulled him in another direction.
Just two days after graduating from Dalhousie University in 2004, Chris earned a job at The Weather Network as a forecaster and briefing meteorologist.
Three years later, Chris joined the CityNews team.
Not only does Chris forecast the weather, he has braved more than one climatic disaster.
He spent two days at Halifax International Airport during the February blizzard of 2004 known as 'White Juan' where the entire city was shut down and covered by a meter of snow.
Chris' calm and cheerful demeanour allowed him to make the best of a bad situation.
He quickly learned that you can't control the weather, but you can deal with it.
Hurricane Juan knocked out the power to his family home for an entire week and trees were knocked down by heavy winds.
Chris found this experience brought out the best in people, as the community banded together to repair the damages.
