Christian Brothers High School (CBHS) is one of four private, Catholic and college preparatory high schools in the city of Sacramento, CA. Originally established in 1876, it is the oldest school in Northern California and currently enrolls 1100 students. Christian Brothers was founded by a Catholic order of priests called the Brothers of the Christian Schools whose founder, Saint Jean Baptiste De La Salle, is the patron saint of educators. The Brothers of the Christian Schools were among the first to build schools and educate children in groups as opposed to individually. The Brothers used education as a method of fueling the revolution in France in the 1800's. The Franciscans and the Jesuits soon followed. Other LaSallian schools in California are De La Salle High School in the Bay Area and Saint Mary's University in Moraga. The Brothers of the Christian Schools have build schools in almost 200 countries.

Although CBHS is the only co-educational private and Catholic school in Sacramento, it has not always been so. From 1876 to the 1980's it was solely for male students. When it joined with the girls school, Bishop Armstrong School was renamed Christian Brothers. The coat of arms of Bishop Armstrong can still be found on the grounds of the school.

Christian Brothers high school enjoys several highly successes and competative sports such as soccer, golf, and swimming. In the annual "Holy Bowl" CB's football teams contend with their rival's, the Jesuit Marauders. CB's Mascot is a falcon and its school colors are red and blue.

Christian Brothers has been nationally honored several times for its student-run news media program, KBFT.

Christian Brothers High School and the other three Catholic schools are among the best institutions of learning in Sacramento. Every student who gradates CBHS goes on to higher education, many at some of the most prestigious universities.

Some famous students of Christian Brothers are the son of Sacramento native Timothy Busfield (Danny Concannon from the West Wing), relatives of Roseville-native actress Molly Ringwold, and the son of the Chief of Staff of former Governor Gray Davis.

Christian Brothers is partially funded by private donations, tuition, and manufacturing and selling wine, brandy, liquers and other alcoholic beverages at the headquarters/retreat center of the Catholic order in the Napa Valley called Mont La Salle.
