From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Higher Education Canada (CHEC) is a non-profit association of higher education institutions, based in Markham, Ontario, that is associated with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC). Members include 34 institutions representing a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate Christian higher education within Canada. CHEC develops collaborative opportunities in several areas, including professional development, marketing research and joint public relations and promotional campaigns.

On October 26, 2005 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, CHEC, the Association of Bible Colleges in Canada (ACBC) and Christian Higher Education Enrolment Association (CHEEA) amalgamated to form a single association to make up the new CHEC.

In 2007, CHEC, in partnership with EFC, launched the first national market research project: Christian Post-secondary Education in Canada: Defining the Market, a 353-page report which tells how 6,698 Canadians from across Canada view Christian values and beliefs in general and Christian higher education in particular. The study was conducted to help CHEC make more informed decisions about future recruitment strategies. Research was completed through three phases: a pre-consultation with key stakeholders, focus groups and quantitative survey.

CHEC’s mission is to advance Christian higher education, foster institutional cooperation, and raise public awareness of the value of Christian Higher Education in Canada.
