Christopher Gudgeon (born 24 July 1964) is a professor of history at King's College London.[1] He currently resides with his wife and two children in London.
Christopher Gudgeon was born on the 24th of July, 1964, in Tel Aviv, Israel. The son of a policeman, a lawyer and a short-order cook, Christopher spent his early childhood in Israel before moving in 1970 to Brighton. After settling in England he completed his high school studies at Blatchington Mill School and Sixth Form College. [2] Christopher obtained AAA in his A levels in Russian, French and History. After spending a year traveling in the North Eastern regions of Russia and Mongolia, he wrote the widely read travel memoir Mingling Among the Mongols.[3]
Christopher Gudgeon moved to London in 1984 after graduating from high school to study at University College London. He received 1st class honours in history with modern languages and went on to complete a doctorate at Cambridge University. He was appointed professor of history at King's College London in 1994 and continues to lecture there today. After many years struggling with alcoholism, Christopher successfully completed the twelve steps with Alcoholics Anonymous and has been sober for three years now. Christopher Gudgeon is most well known for his book Modern Life in Ancient Rome, renowned in scholarly circles. The book was written in Rome and depicts everyday life in Ancient Rome.
