A chug is a hybrid breed of dog which is a mix between a Chihuahua and a pug.

Social lives

Chugs are loyal pets. They are known to be able to recognize if it is their owner's car pulling into the driveway. Chugs are intelligent, good watch dogs and very loyal. They are sociable animals and enjoy both human and other animal's company, These dogs are ideal if you have children and do not wish to have any problems.

Chugs are often considered a better choice than purebreed pugs as the snouts that cause many pugs breathing difficulty have a slight extension in the chugs causing less breathing difficulty, This combined with a much cheaper initial outlay make them a very popular choice.

Registration

Chugs cannot be registered as such with many of the major purebred kennel clubs, even if both parents are registered purebreds. However, some major kennel clubs do accept registration of crossbred puppies for performance events such as agility and obedience. There are also several hybrid specific registries that register hybrid / designer cross puppies such as the Chug.
