The
Cincinnati Dockers are an
Australian rules football club based in
Cincinnati, Ohio in the
United States.
The club is the oldest Aussie Rules club in the USA competes in mens divisions in the
MAAFL and
USAFL National Championships.
History
Originally known as 'The Tremors', in September, of 1996, it became the first Australian Rules Football Club in the USA.
The club played their first game on Sept 28th, Vs Louisville, winning the match.
In October, of 1996, the Fremantle Dockers Football Club of the AFL became the first professional club to sponsor a US Club and the club changed its name to reflect Fremantle's nickname, becoming the Cincinnati 'Dockers' (The Fremantle Dockers Football Club continues to this day to support the Cincinnati Dockers with equipment, uniforms and goodwill).
On November, 16th 1996, Cincinnati played their 2nd game Vs Indianapolis also coming out victorious.
The Cincinnati Dockers are 2-time US National Champions (1997 and 2004) and Grand Final Festival champions (1998 and 1999).
The Dockers also became the first All-American Squad to ever win an Aussie Rules match (1999).
The Cincinnati Dockers hosted the first 3 US National Tournaments and have placed at least 1 player on the
US National team every year.
The Dockers have played more than 154 games (non-metro).
The club is actively involved in the community in junior development since 2000, Fairfield Holiday Festivals since 1998 and charitable donations keep it strong.
