From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

City Districts are subdivisions of the municipalities of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. In Swedish, they are known as stadsdelsnämndsområden in Stockholm (literally quarter board areas) and stadsdelar (literally quarters) in Gothenburg and Malmö. Occasionally, they are incorrectly referred to as boroughs in English. City districts form administrative units within the larger city, with boards that are responsible for the local area.

City districts are responsible for kindergartens, schools, and geriatric care within their geographical areas, as well as local cultural and recreational activities.
