A privately held internet security company based in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. Founded in 1998, the company
was originally called "Enternet" before rebranding itself as Clavister some years later. Its primary business is designing, developing, manufacturing and selling internet security gateways, either directly or via distributors. The Clavister product-range spans all business sizes and includes specialised products for telecom operators building UMA/GAN configurations.

Clavister offices are currently located in France, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy and the UK with representation in other regions by distributors.

Product Evolution

Originally begun as a developer and vendor of internet firewalls, Clavister has evolved into a developer of
Intel x86 based networking operating systems that combine routing functions, stateful inspection firewalling
and the key components of Unified Threat Management. The Clavister operating system (now called "CorePlus")
was developed further to provide failover through high availability computer clusters, with later effort going into
advanced routing features such as multicast support, UTM features such as antivirus scanning, as well as the functionality needed for the security gateway component of Generic Access Networks. The CorePlus operating system
is sold both with Clavister's own hardware family, and as a separate software product running on generic x86-based hardware.
