Clayton Sleep Institute (CSI) is an
independent organization founded, directed and managed by expert
medical, research and technology professionals dedicated to all
aspects of
sleep medicine and healthy sleep. Located in

Founder
Dr. Joseph Ojile founded and
currently serves as CEO of the Clayton Sleep Institute. He is also
the founder and co-course master for Midwest Updates in Sleep
Medicine, a national CME (continuing medical education) program,
and the President of Alliance Inpatient Management and Caduceus
Corporation. He is the Medical Director of Sleep Services at
St. Anthony’s Medical
Center and serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine in the
Saint Louis University Department of
Internal Medicine Division of

/>In a recent interview he said “there’s an association between
[poor, inadequate] sleep and obesity,” which more than 60
newspapers covered, including the
Chicago Tribune,
St. Louis
Post-Dispatch and
Fort Worth Star Telegram. He was
also quoted in the March 5, 2007 issue of
USA Today in an article about the positive
benefits of taking naps.<ref>Painter, Kim"Wake up to nap

Facilities
The
Sleep Clinics
The Sleep Clinics are owned and managed by CSI,
to diagnose patients with sleep disorders such as sleep apnea,
restless leg syndrome and insomnia. Patients stay overnight in the
Sleep Clinic’s comfortable and supportive environment where their
sleep is properly monitored and measured by specialists using
state-of-the-art technology. "Most disorders are treatable, and
usually we can put people back to sleep," said Mark Muehlbach,
clinical director of the Clayton Sleep Institute.

The Insomnia Center
The Insomnia Center at CSI is the
only independent insomnia clinic in the United States, and one of
few independent medical clinics in the country that addresses
insomnia in all its complexity. The Insomnia Center is on the
national forefront of insomnia diagnosis and treatment with a
strong patient focus. The Institute is focused on helping patients
achieve better health through better sleep.
<br />Ojile
“wanted to move away from the ‘encumbrance’ of a large institution.
He wanted to create an independent sleep institute that would
advance research, educate the community and treat patients.”

<br />"When we want to do projects, we
want to be able to move extremely rapidly," said Ojile. "This has
given us the ability to do that." The institute also doesn't look
like a hospital. The atmosphere is spa-like, with candles on the
walls, dimmed lights and floral scents wafting through the office.
"It is a boutique hotel experience with cutting-edge science," said
Ojile. <ref>Painter, Kim"Wake up to nap time." USA TODAY

The Research Center
The Research
Center designs and directs key research in sleep medicine and has
been awarded dozens of research projects by medical device and
pharmaceutical companies, the federal government and notable health
foundations. The Research Center conducts both
investigator-initiated research in response to current scientific
trends in the field of sleep medicine, as well as
industry/pharmaceutical driven research. <ref>"Research."

The
Midwest Updates in Sleep Medicine
Clayton Sleep Institute
coordinates and hosts Midwest Updates in Sleep Medicine (Updates)
on topical sleep medicine and
sleep disorder topics. The faculty features
national leaders in sleep medicine and the conference attracts
attendance by physicians, psychologists and healthcare
professionals. Continuing medical education accreditation is an
additional benefit of the quality curriculum offered at each annual
conference. Each attendee can receive up to 8.25 credit hours.
Updates is an annual symposium that began in 2003 under the
co-direction of Joseph Ojile, M.D. and George Mutuschak, M.D. Their
goal was to advance the science of sleep medicine by creating a
platform for clinicians and researchers to share findings. They
also work to provide a forum for outstanding leaders to educate
medical professionals about important advancements in sleep
medicine. Updates is intended for all medical professionals who
have an interest in sleep medicine, no matter their area of
specialty. <ref>www.claytonsleepinstitute.com</ref>
