A
clubbox is a personal
website generally with a large amount of
storage allocated for
each user. Each user starts off with a 100
GB ClubBox that they can use to upload files to share to
others. When they are almost at their 100GB limit, their Box can
increase incrementally by 100GB. Depending on the traffic of the
box, the user can either be a Bronze, Silver, or Gold user. With
Gold, their files do not expire after 10 days and 10 downloads like
the other two user levels. Clubbox providers charge a fixed monthly
fee for a premium account. The owner of the account is free to
upload and share a
blog,
pictures, or
videos.But actually,it is a
share space for everyone to download files. Clubbox services are
very popular in
Russia and
in
East Asian
countries such as
Korea,
Taiwan, and
China.
Clubbox works on a semi-torrent
swarm system, with newer files with higher popularity having much
higher speeds. This works on the premise that the program
fcagent.exe runs on your computer without you limiting the
bandwidth. When you finish downloading a file and all file
transfers are complete, ClubBox starts uploading the files that you
have downloaded. In order to make people leave their ClubBox
program running, you get 10 mile points per hour of leaving the
program on. After 1000 mileage points, you can begin obtaining
coupons to download faster. Coupon brackets of 2GB, 5GB, 10GB,
20GB, 50GB, 300GBs exist.
Downloads are limited to 50KB/s for
all free users non coupon users. Speeds of 100KB/s are obtainable
for free users if lucky.
Clubbox uses an Internet Explorer
ActiveX control as a download manager and TCP port 19101 for
transfers. PD Box is a similar application that uses TCP ports in
the 15000-15099 range.
