"Co-creating with God" is a phrase often used in
New Age and
New Thought
communities. There is no precise definition of the phrase, though
often the phrase is used to describe a situation wherein the
spiritual practitioner feels he or she has attained a type of
communication with God and is
therefore able to work with God to bring into the practitioner's
life that which is desirable for the practitioner. In the
Christian context,
the doctrine of co-creation is the belief that "Man as God's
Image" means "Man as Co-creator". To support this,
proponents of the doctrine point out that there is in fact very
little biologically or neurologically special about human beings,
individuating them from other animals, except for the fact that we
are capable of comprehending and modifying ourselves and the
universe to create new things, as God creates as
well.
