Coach Zylstra, the 26 year old facilitator of civics. He has been teaching/coaching for over 30 years. And yes, he is 26 years old.

Zylstra's Treatment<br />
He makes fun of his students and always claims to be offended over ridiculous reasons. He gives his students the most random nick names imaginable, and can not read students' names - even when their names are typed in readable font and size on their homework assignments. He tends to bang his desk a lot while yelling "FIIIRRREEEEEDDDDD!!!!" If we ask for points, he gives them to us. Literally. "Zylstra can I have 5 points?" "Okay, here." *Zylstra points at student 5 times. He gives students a limit of 3 strikes a day, but he always seems to lose count.

Zylstra's Advice: School Dances<br />
Zylstra always teaches his students to find Prom dates as soon as possible. He completely disregards the fact that there are several dances before Prom (Homecoming, Winter Formal, Sadies), and only tells us to find Prom dates, eventhough Prom is eight months away.

Zylstra's Influence<br />
His students mimic his strange hand motions and his many, many sound effects. All of his students laugh at his expressions - especially his eyebrow-moving expression. His students attempt to mimic this expression but many fail. Most students mimic his finger spasm motion fairly accurately. Sometimes he uses one hand to do his finger spasm motion and uses his other hand to do a finger pointing movement directed at the finger spasm. While it may be hard to mimic at first because it involves both hands, his students catch on quickly and begin to do it almost as well as Zylstra. His students also tend to use less "uhhs" and "umms" when they speak because he stops talking to them and says they fail.

Zylstra's "Lessons"<br />
Zylstra, while being a teacher for 30 years, does not actually lecture on anything that is in the book. He tells students that they will not amount to anything and isn't a teacher who compliments a student for Instead, he teaches his students about current issues by going to government news websites such as C-span.org. He tells students about new bills passed and how the political figures who sign them only look at the surface and do not understand the violation of rights the bill is affecting.

Zylstra's student jobs<br />
At the beginning of the year, Zyltra randomly selects students to have different jobs. The jobs are: mail getter/role taker, stapler dude, paper passer backer, keep him on task person, hoodlum buster, and a homework helper person.
