Codrington Public School, in the east end of Barrie, Ontario, is the main elementary school for children identified Exceptional-Gifted. (Trillium Woods and Cookstown are the two other SCDSB schools that teach these children. Minesing's program was recently shut down due to lack of students.) In addition to the gifted education program, the school also educates approximately three hundred children from the local area. The building was constructed in 1951 and is built in the shape of a large T, with offices, the gymnasium and the primary wing along what corresponds to the horizontal stroke at the top, while the stem of the T consists of the library and the junior and intermediate classrooms. The school is located on high ground, with a gentle slope descending to two basketball courts, a playground and a large field used by the students during recesses and physical education classes, as well as by members of the community.
