From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MyCoke (formerly known as Coke Music and Coke Studios) was an online chat game used for marketing the Coca-Cola brand and products. It was created in 2002 by Sulake Corporation, the company responsible for a similar popular online game called Habbo Hotel.

The main focus of the game was to socialise, mix music, and decorate various interiors. The game was only available between 10:00 and 02:00 UTC-5 (known in the US as EST; 15:00 through 07:00 UTC) A localised UK version operated until it was shut down on 31 July 2006. [1] The in-game currency was decibels (dB), and was rewarded for:

  • Receiving 'Thumbs Up' votes from other users whilst performing music.
  • Drinking Virtual Coca-Colas found in crates, vending machines, and refrigerators.
  • Filling out surveys.

There are various locations based on real-life cities where the user can perform music available, such as San Francisco, Mexico, Goa, Tokyo, and London.

Version 2 of the game was released in late 2004 with new locations and a special double-reward 'Coca-Cola Red Room'. However, the new version was plagued by bugs and glitches including hangs and network issues.

Coke Studios had also sponsored several high-profile films and television shows:

CC Metro

On December 6, 2007, Coca-Cola Metro opened on the 3D virtual world, There. It was found by many Coke Studios users to be vastly inferior to Coke Studios and many users wanted the old Coke Studios back. Many efforts were made to send the message to MyCoke that people wanted Coke Studios back, such as petitions both on Youtube and online petitioning websites.

On March 9, 2010, Coca-Cola Metro was closed due to the closure of There.
