What is Color Africa? Color Africa is a global outreach opportunity to bring light and color to an area of the world shattered by social injustice and disease. Color Africa was birthed out of a desire to offer the innocent children in Africa who are sick with Aids/HIV with entertainment while they spend many hours in their hospital beds. Imagine knowing that your days are numbered while you stare at a blank wall. What if you could enjoy the remainder of your life with a fun activity? Color Africa will make this possible for the hundreds of thousands of young children currently in orphanages and hospitals in Africa. Can coloring books and crayons really change a child’s life? We believe they can. Will you join us in changing the lives of the beautiful children in Africa.
On October 13, 2006 U2 lead singer, Bono appeared on Oprah to unveil one of his biggest ideas yet to help end the AIDS crisis in Africa. A friend of ours was watching this hour long special when she noticed a small five-second clip of a small child who stated that he was feeling much better since he has been receiving medical attention. However, while in the hospital he wished that he had a coloring book and crayons to entertain him.
How many of us no longer give coloring books and crayons a second thought? These can be purchased for as little $1.00 a piece (sometimes less). What if we picked up one book and one box each time we went to the store? That is only $2.00 more each time you visit the store. What a small price to pay in order to bring joy into the life of a young child.
