What is Color Africa? Color Africa is a global outreach opportunity to bring light and color to an area of the world shattered by social injustice and disease. Color Africa was birthed out of a desire to offer the innocent children in Africa who are sick with Aids/HIV with entertainment while they spend many hours in their hospital beds. Imagine knowing that your days are numbered while you stare at a blank wall. What if you could enjoy the remainder of your life with a fun activity? Color Africa will make this possible for the hundreds of thousands of young children currently in orphanages and hospitals in Africa. Can coloring books and crayons really change a child’s life? On October 13, 2006 U2 lead singer, Bono appeared on Oprah to unveil one of his biggest ideas yet to help end the AIDS crisis in Africa. A friend of ours was watching this hour long special when she noticed a small five-second clip of a small child who stated that he was feeling much better since he has been receiving medical attention. However, while in the hospital he wished that he had a coloring book and crayons to entertain him.
How many of us no longer give coloring books and crayons a second thought? These can be purchased for as little $1.00 a piece (sometimes less). What if we picked up one book and one box each time we went to the store? That is only $2.00 more each time you visit the store.
