ComicRack is an eComic Reader and Manager for Windows computers supporting the Comic Book Archive file. It is an all-in-one solution that attempts to create an iTunes-like experience for eComics.

Features

As a reader, ComicRack supports:
  • Different display and image-fitting modes
  • Full screen
  • Information overlays
  • Magnifier
  • Color adjustments for individual pages or full eComics
  • Automatic back color matching
  • Multi tab interface to quickly switch between eComics
  • Manga reading mode (right to left)

  • ComicRack is also a full-featured eComics organizer with features including:
  • Automatic built-in metadata filling, based on file naming standards
  • Extensive metadata information with ComicBookDB.com data importing (using script)
  • Unique Stacking, Grouping, Sorting and Searching features to quickly organize and browse your collection
  • Built-in scripts for batch-renaming collections
  • Intuitive dual-based interface (Explorer-like or custom catalog) switched with a single mouse click
  • Fully customizable thumbnails
  • Automation scripts

  • ComicRack enables browsing and searching eComics in the library, creating folders and lists, tagging, creating smart lists, format converting, and sharing across home networks. Its grouping feature, allied to the friendly interface, creates a new, innovative and elegant way for browsing eComics.

It supports reading and converting cbz/zip/cbr/rar/cbt/tar/pdf comics natively (GhostScript required for some pdf operations).

    Extensibility

For enthusiast and hobbyist programmers, ComicRack features a built-in Python scripting interface, which allows power users to add new features and automate tasks easily. The standard build brings some useful scripts, and the official ComicRack forum contains a specific area for Python programmers.

    Multilingual

Currently, it supports 9 languages (English, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Hungarian and Croatian), and a localization tool is available as a separate download to expand this quickly.

    Development

ComicRack was developed using Visual Studio .NET (Visual C#), and requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. This allows a lightweight, full-featured application (2 MB installer and 4 MB after installed).

    License and Version

It is freeware and its current version is 0.9.70 (by 12/31/2007).
