Coming Soon (dir. Sir Tijn Po) is a Czech
film that explores the concepts of equality, love, tolerance,
morality, censorship, tradition and experimentation. A large
portion of the film follows the trials and tribulations of E.F.A.
[483] - a Czech-based
organization that is trying to bring about absolute equality for
all species, including their right to mate freely with one another.
While the legitimacy of E.F.A. has been challenged, it has been
serving as a model for organizations around the world and has been
instrumental in sparking an international zoophile-rights movement.
An unfinished version of COMING SOON won a Special Award at the
2006 Festival Finale Plzen (Festival of Czech Films)
[484] and after being completed has gone
on to become the most critically-acclaimed Czech film of the year.
Although COMING SOON is still being distributed exclusively in
the Czech Republic (an international version is currently being
prepared) it has already been generating debate amongst world
thinkers, politicians, students, clergy, etc. The world-renown
philosopher, Peter Singer, has recently described COMING SOON as "a
film that manages to be both hilarious and disturbing, to entertain
while it raises deep questions about the things we are, and are
not, prepared to tolerate regarding the treatment of nonhuman
animals."
